Meet Kris

Owner of Breathe, has been training and teaching in the health field for decades. As a former model in the fashion industry for 30 years, Kris knows the value of functional movement, health and wellness and the importance of staying consistent.

After a near death skiing accident, shattering her hip and femur, Kris was able to rehab her own body and is passionate to teach others how to overcome injuries and sustain functional movement. Kris believes the goal of fitness is to live a pain free life and be able to move well in your daily life.

Kris has been teaching pilates for 20 plus years, having studied in Los Angeles at The Pilates Institute of Southern California under Stacey Vargas and also through Peak Pilates with Master Instructor Sonje Mayo in Nashville, TN. She is also certified in the Schroth Method as it applies to the pilates method as well as numerous workshops and advanced study with first and second generation students of Joseph Pilates including Kathi Ross Nash, Brooke Siler, Chris Robinson, to name a few. She is also certified in Functional Patterns as a human Foundations Practitioner.

Kris has started programs across the country in Nashville, Dallas and LA that still exist and hopes to implement this tried, true and proven method in Lake Charles.

Having worked with a lot of teachers across the country to help them deepen their work, she strives to aim for a higher standard and restore pilates to the level it was created for.

The studio

Breathe, Contrology by Kris is a boutique style studio offering private, semi-private sessions as well as reformer, tower, chair, barrel and mat classes.

Our goal at Breathe is to teach the pilates system as it was originally taught as contrology by Joseph Pilates.

We are dedicated to preserving the legacy of Joseph Pilates by teaching his exercise system with passion and precision.

Our studio features equipment designed by Gratz, upholding the high standards established many years ago.

The pilates method emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness supporting efficient and graceful movement.

Pilates, known as the art of contrology focuses on proper alignment, core strength and muscle balance.

Joseph Pilates, who created the exercises in the 1920's, emphasized quality over quantity in his approach.
